I wanted to thank everyone who attend the cookout. I continue to be impressed with the community we are creating and your willingness to be involved. Also, thank you to the Middleton family for hosting.

On Wednesday we again will start a NEW TRADITION! Be sure to drop your student off by 7:30. This will give us time to put everyoneÅ› luggage where it needs to go. All camp meals have been covered. Thank you to everyone for volunteering to help! Mr. Jeff Wimpsett has reached out to me about Handy Food Mart supporting us during camp. 20oz Gatorade $0.80, Ham or Turkey sandwich $1.00, Chicken $0.75, Tenders $0.45, and 28pks of Water $3.99 a case. This looks to be a great option for our camp. If you would like to use these deals please contact Mr. Wimpsett at 502-827-4546.

We still need more parents to sign up for concession stands. Please make sure that you have sign up if your student is in the freshman thru junior classes. Right now no one has signed up for the Nelson County game. This will most likely be the game that will make use the most money as a program. Please sign up by contacting coach Peake at 270-401-4124. If you would like to learn about how to run the concession stands we will be meeting tomorrow at 5 at the concessions stands. Ms. Thurmond, our student leadership director, will be attending as well.

Also, we need some more help with painting the field and working the chains during the home games this year. There have been a few parents who have reached out but we still need several more. We are meeting at the fieldhouse at Thomas Nelson at 5 pm tomorrow to learn how to paint the field. Please plan to attend if you would like to help with either if at all possible. Please contact coach peake if you have any questions.

Lastely, some parents and students athletes have talked about doing pregame meals before home games on Thursdays following walkthroughs. I think this is a fantastic idea and a great way to continue to bond our team! The meals will be Thursdays before each game. Depending on if the cafeteria is available or not will depend on if we use it or not. This meals will be just for the players, coaches, and the families are providing the food for that meal. Sign ups are on the football hub. If you would like to sign up for a game please contact me at 270-401-4124.

7 on 7, Camp Meals, Concession Stands, and Fundraisers

Our 2019 preseason banquet was a great event and thank you to all who attended. For those who were unable to attend or those who were unable to sign up, there are some events we need you to sign up for. There are some camp meals that we still need parents to sign up for. Also, we need more parents to sign up for working the concession stands. Some of the games that we do not have anyone signed up for are going to be some of our most profitable games of the year. Please be sure to sign up for both if you have not yet by contacting Coach Peake at 270-401-4124. To see what is available to sign up for, or who will be working with you for the team meals or the concessions stands, click the link to the Football Hub. The Football Hub also has information on roster, physicals, participation packet, shirts sizes, and more. This document will be used throughout the year. Please stay up to date and check it often. Lastly, there is also the 7 on 7 schedule for this weekend on the 13th at Southern High School. Again, thank you for joining us last night and for you commitment to our students. 2019-2020 Football Hub       July 13th 7 on 7 Schedule

TNHS FIRST ANNUAL YOUTH CAMP

I am excited to announce our first annual youth camp. The youth camp will provide our student athletes the opportunity to connect with the community and to give back to the sport they love. Our goal for this camp is to spread the love of football throughout our community, to connect with the youth of our community, and to showcase the outstanding student athletes we have here at TNHS. Below you will find a link that will take you to a Google Doc. We ask that you print this document and mail it in with your payment to the address provided on the document. You may also pick one up from Thomas Nelson High School front office, from our coaching staff, or from one of our student athletes. For football to thrive again in our county we must continue to connect with our community's youth to show them all the gifts that football has to offer.

Finishing Strong, Communication, Summer Workouts and Practices Times Results

The end of the school year is approaching quickly and that means end of the semester assignment due dates are coming up. Please make sure that your students are working diligently to finish the semester strong. If there is any way that I can assist with your student athletes school success, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am here to help in any way that I can. The LEADERS at TNHS want your student to be successful and will go above and beyond to make that happen. Please do not hesitate to ask for help.

One other thing I wanted to remind parents and students both of, is how critical communication is. Just to provide parents with transparency, I want to make sure to let you know that your student athlete is expected to communicate reasons for missing workouts or practices BEFORE the start of that workout or practice. I believe one of the biggest reasons for students getting into trouble or not succeeding in the classroom and on the field is lack of communication. Please help to push your student athlete to communicate not only with myself, but their teammates and their teachers. We are all here to help each other be successful!

In the spirit of communication and transparency, below is a chart that shows the results from our survey on summer practice. With a total of 31 responses, I feel this a good representation of what works best for most of our student athletes. There were a total of four families that said that the 8-9:30 am time frame does not work for them. We will provide an afternoon option for these students as well. This will allow us to meet the needs of all student athletes. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding the afternoon make up option. Please note that if you have not communicated why your family cannot make the 8:00 am - 9:30 am practice work, your student athlete will be expected to attend the 8:-9:30 am practice time. If rides are an issue please communicate that with me, or any other member of the coaching staff and we will do our best to help accommodate your student, if you agree with the arrangement we setup for their transportation.

I am looking forward to a great summer with the team and preparing our young athletes for the upcoming season.
